Check the “Alternate techniques” tab if “HTML tag” isn’t included here. For verification, Google will provide you with the HTML code you’ll need to add, save, and publish to your website’s homepage. Return to the Google Search Console dashboard and click the “Verify” button next to your website. The verification HTML code will subsequently be checked by Google. After verification, do not delete the code from your homepage; else, your site will become uncertified.

You may also use an HTML file submitted to your website’s root directory to validate your site. On the Search Console, look for the “HTML file upload” verification option under suggested or other methods. If you choose it, Google will prompt you to download an HTML file. Then, upload the file to the Google-specified site. Make no changes to the file’s content or name. Go back to Search Console and click “Verify.” Google will search your site for the file. If you remove the file after that, you’ll lose your verification.

  1. Verify the Site Is Yours: Non-HTML Options

If you’d rather not utilise HTML code or files to validate your website, Google offers a few additional options. The first is to go to your domain name provider’s website and sign in. When you choose this option on the “Verify this Property” page, you’ll be sent to a website with a list of domain name providers. If your provider isn’t listed, choose “Other” to establish a DNS TXT reference or CNAME record for them. Simply log in to your domain provider’s account, and Google will validate your site.

The fourth alternative for verification is to include a Google Analytics code. If you already have a Google Analytics account that you are the administrator of, this technique will be the simplest. If this is the case, Google will immediately authenticate your site via your Google Analytics account. Simply choose this option under “recommended or other techniques” and click “Verify.” The verification will happen right away.

Finally, you may use Google Tag Manager to validate your website. This option is best for users who already have Google Tag Manager accounts (with the “View, Edit, and Manage” access).
