Long Form Content SEO Ranking Strategy

Killer content is a critical component of a successful SEO campaign. However, not all content is the same. You want to create pages and blog articles that engage, inform, and connect with your readers.

You increasingly desire this information to be lengthy as well.

Long form material is over 2,000 words long and contains a lot of information. Not all of the content you post needs to be lengthy form, but some does. Whether you’re new to long form writing or a seasoned pro seeking for new ideas, I’ve got you covered.

Check out my whole long form content guide below:

1. Add Visual Flair

The length of long form content should be at least 2,000 words. Some get as high as 3,000 or even 4,000! However, with an article of this length, you must avoid boring your reader.

Even a 2,000-word essay can appear huge on the Internet. The goal is to make your essay appear shorter than it actually is. A shorter-looking piece will appear to be less intimidating to readers. When they finish a lengthy article, though, they feel more gratified and informed.

Include images. Images, pictures, videos, pull-out quotations, cartoons, and other media may be used. Maintain their relevance to the precise subjects they are near on the page. This way, anyone scanning the document may use the photographs to find the information they’re looking for.

It’s quite usual to include a picture every two to three paragraphs. That should be enough to break up the monotony of long blocks of text.

2. Create a Comprehensive Guide

A detailed handbook is one example of successful long-form material. An advanced guide contains all a person would need to learn about a topic, even if they have no prior knowledge of the subject.

A comprehensive handbook can be intimidating. The solution is simple organising. Include a table of contents near the top so that users may quickly access the areas they’re interested in.

You should also include clear headlines that correspond to the language used in the table of contents. This allows people to swiftly browse your article. This makes the handbook accessible to both newcomers and people with prior knowledge of the subject.

3. Group Smaller Articles Together

Long form content does not have to be delivered in its entirety. Under a bigger umbrella, you can divide the material into smaller pieces.

Take a peek at This Old House’s kitchen guide. A kitchen remodel is a massive undertaking. This tutorial divides the process into five sections, each roughly 500 words long and distributed across five pages.

If you’re looking for a step-by-step guide to kitchen remodelling, these five related articles include everything you need. If you’re looking for something specific, you can quickly find the article you’re looking for.

4. Create Step by Step Guides and Lists

People seek out content because they are looking for information. Fortunately, this is designed expressly for extended content. To teach people how to do something, make a step-by-step guide or a list.

This is applicable to almost any industry. Teach the 10 Steps to Creating a Custom WordPress Theme to others. List the 7 Things to Look for When Purchasing a New Car. How to Unclog a Toilet in 3 Simple Steps

Keep each step to a minimum. It is preferable to have numerous steps with shorter descriptions than a few steps with a lot of description. This is especially true for mobile. After all, your user could be reading your guide while holding a plunger in one hand and a smartphone in the other.

5. Update Regularly

Web media, unlike print media, is dynamic. As the hours change or new information becomes available, update your content. Make care to include the article’s timeliness as well:

  • 5 Beach Essentials for the Summer of ’17

Not every piece of content you create has to be 2,000 words or more. You should still write 500-word articles on a regular basis. But also make time to write lengthy instructions, at least once every month. They will deliver a continuous stream of readers and possible leads for years if done correctly.
